Agreement
By using www.framingplan.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. We may update them, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised version.
What the service is
Framing Plan is browser-based drafting software for producing preliminary floor and low-slope roof framing layouts. It applies span tables and geometric rules you select to generate a candidate joist, beam and bearing layout, and exports that layout as PNG, PDF or DXF.
What this tool is not
Framing Plan is not a structural engineer and its output is not engineering advice, certification or approval. It does not perform a structural analysis of your building. It does not know your soil, your loads, your seismic or wind exposure, your local amendments, or anything about the rest of the structure below and above the framing you draw.
Every layout produced here is preliminary and must be reviewed, sized and signed off by a qualified structural engineer or other suitably licensed professional before it is used for construction, permitting, quoting or any other real-world purpose. You are responsible for compliance with the building codes and regulations that apply where you are building.
Span tables and material properties built into the tool are generic reference values. They may not match the grades, species, spacing rules or code edition enforced in your jurisdiction. Verify them against the governing code before relying on any result.
Your drawings are yours
You keep all rights in the plans you create. Because they are stored in your browser rather than on our servers, we claim no licence over them and have no access to them. You are responsible for keeping your own copies, so export the files you need. We are not liable for plans lost by clearing browser data, switching device or browser, or using private browsing.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- present output from this tool as engineered or certified drawings;
- attempt to disrupt the service, or access accounts or data that are not yours;
- scrape, resell or redistribute the site's articles or template files as your own;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
Cost and advertising
The service is free to use. It is funded by advertising shown on the guide and article pages. We may introduce paid features in future, but we will not retroactively charge for work you have already created.
Availability and warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of output. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation is correct for your project. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its output, including construction defects, structural failure, rework, delay, cost overrun, rejected submissions, lost profit or lost data. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you use the site from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your own local laws.
